"My number kept acting up and it got exhausting"
I used TextNow for a while, but the number never felt dependable. Calls would randomly not come through, texts would show up way later, and at one point my number basically stopped working like it should. It got really frustrating because I’d have people saying they tried to reach me and I had no idea. After a while it felt like I was begging the app to just do the basic thing it’s supposed to do, and I started to really resent dealing with it. I wouldn’t trust it for anything important.

"Got locked out recently and it really changed my opinion"
I was using it without too many issues before, but my most recent experience was awful. My account got suspended out of nowhere, and I couldn’t even log back in to figure out what happened or fix anything. Support didn’t really help much, so it just felt like I lost access with no clear warning. After dealing with that, I don’t think I’d trust it again.

"The ads pop up way too much"
TextNow is fine for calls and texts, like it definitely does what it’s supposed to do. But the ads are absolutely everywhere, and I swear they always pop up at the worst possible time. I know it’s a free app, so I get why they’re there, but it gets annoying unbelievably fast. It would be so much better if it didn’t interrupt me constantly.

"Decent, but the recent lag is frustrating"
I’ve been using the app for free texting and it’s mostly fine, but lately it’s been getting on my nerves. In the past few days, a couple of calls dropped and some messages came through way later than they should’ve, so that’s kind of what’s sticking with me right now. It’s not awful, especially for a free app, but the recent lag makes it feel less reliable...

I downloaded TextNow mostly just to try it out because I needed something for calls and didn’t really know what to expect. Set up was easy enough, and after using it for a bit here and there, I’ve actually been kind of surprised. I figured there might be a bunch of lag or dropped calls, but that hasn’t really been the case for me. The voices usually come through clear, and I haven’t had many issues with calls cutting out. So far, I’m happy with it.

"Activation felt harder than it needed to be"
I tried setting up textnow and the activation process was more annoying than I expected. It kept asking me to verify different things, and when something failed, the app barely explained what went wrong. After a few tries, I started wondering if they were making it extra difficult on purpose just to get more info out of me or push me toward something else. I almost gave up completely. Once I finally got it set up, it worked okay, but that first part definitely left a bad impression.

TextNow has been decent for me when I’m around town or driving near main roads. Calls and texts usually go through, and the data is fine for simple things like checking messages or looking something up real quick.
Once I get inside certain buildings or head farther out from the city, though, the service can get shaky. Calls drop sometimes, and texts can take longer than expected to send. Is it okay for the price?? Yeah, I’d say so. But would I count on it working perfectly everywhere?? Not really...
